MAIN FEATURES
  GENERAL MACHINE CONCEPT
This machine has been designed on the basis of the experience made on its “sister” FA-X Superstar, described in the previous pages, thus maintaining the same process concepts and also the most of the components employed, while the chassis has been optimized being more compact while still keeping the necessary capability to host the most requested product features.
“Easy installation and start-up” concepts are applied: high integration of drive, pneumatic piping, vacuum ducting, electrical equipment and wiring, installed inside modules.
For this reason, this machine is definitely one of the most efficient and reliable machines in its market segment.
“Full servo technology”: each process unit is independently driven as well as each material feeding and transport system so that machine set-up and format change operations are easier and each process step can be quickly adapted when different materials are used or operating conditions change.

  RAW MATERIAL FEEDING
The machine is equipped with innovative low-tension unwinders with motorized expanding spindles (one motor per reel), tension control with dancers, web accumulation systems and automatic “cut&splice” systems. These unwinders minimize the stress on materials durind splices keeping web force lower than 10 N, thus allowing for the use of less expensive materials and, in turn, for the reduction of final product cost; this system increases machine efficiency due to the reduced downtimes.
Unwinders are typically located “on-line” to keep machine compactness and reduce space occupation on operator side.
The cross-wise position of the product structure materials is constantly controlled through electronic web tracking and self-alignment equipment.
Several solutions are available for the feeding of specific materials like elastic bands, elasticized ear-tapes, tape tabs, frontal tape (on-line assembly capability or use of pre-assembled materials, standard or high diameter reels, etc.).
  ABSORBENT CORE FORMING
MODE 10 DIS (Fameccanica.Data patented technology) for highly efficient fiberization of any kind of treated or untreated pulp with low power consumption; double infeed system with automatic splicing capability through automatic switch of the pulp sheets.
Fluff absorbent core delivery systems with rotary drum forming for contoured, flat or longitudinally and/or cross-wise profiled pads.
“Multistream” forming capability allowing different absorbent core designs and for effective S.A.P. (Super-Absorbent Polymer) blend applications.
Suitable for “ultra-thin” absorbent core formation with high SAP content.
  PROCESS UNITS
Fameccanica-design process units are utilized to guarantee the user-friendliness and the accuracy of each step of the manufacturing process.
Then, some ingenious solutions are adopted, such as the edge shaping unit that has been specifically designed for a long-life, maintenance-free operation.
Other typical characteristics are: temperature control (heating or chilling) systems, fine adjustment systems, push-button operated re-phasing systems (to guarantee accurate phasing with line in run), integrated lubrication systems.
  DRIVE TRAIN AND MOTION CONTROL
Brushless servomotors and digital drivers are employed and accurately networked to make each process unit run synchronized at any time.
  LOGIC CONTROL OF MACHINE FUNCTIONS
Machine Functional Control is supplied by a powerful PLC with distributed I/O allowing the easiest implementation of retrofitting modules.
Programmable Limit Switch for an accurate management of electronic phasing (glue application, etc.).
Operator interface for centralized management of all machine operation phases (start-up, shut-down, changeover).
Alpha numerical display of operation messages on machine running mode, downtime and automatically rejected products.
  QUALITY CONTROL
Automatic reject control system with sensors for detection of material presence and/or application application control and automatic rejection of defective products, to guarantee top-quality production targets.
Visual web inspection system available.
  PRODUCTION DATA SUPERVISION
New Fameccanica DATAMATE system is available and integrated in the converter operator panel, for the collection, storage and analysis of production data (production, scraps and downtime).
Additional functions for specific requirements are available with Fameccanica Datamate “Plus”: an advanced version allowing also for the monitoring of raw material consumption and for multi-shift statistical analysis.
  AIR FILTRATION
A wide range of specific equipment can be installed for the filtration of the air needed for the manufacturing process (self cleaning rotary filters, dry sacs systems, equipment for connection to centralized plant filtering systems, etc.).
  SAFETY
Designed in compliance with European Safety Regulations.
The whole machine has been designed keeping in mind operators' safety. Continuous improvements are accomplished thanks to dedicated internal audits. Safety guards with safety switches and security locks on operator and drive side are installed.
